Description

KH "PBY" button through work shirt made up in an incredibly hard wearing Japanese made,

100% cotton Mock Twist chambray fabric which is more famously know as Salt and Pepper.

Mock Twist achieves its speckled look by twisting two separate, contrasting strands of yarn together into a 2-ply thread

before weaving. This ply-twisting physically reinforces the thread, exponentially increasing its tensile strength.

Because mock twist chambray was designed for early 20th century hard labor,

it handles friction and frequent washing significantly better than standard shirting.

Original Salt and Pepper work shirts from that era

are highly coveted within the true vintage community for obvious reasons.

This incredible fabric was used from the turn of the century to the early 50's.

It would be replaced replaced by the lighter and less robust chambray as the gold standard for North American work shirts.

Our shirt references those iconic work shirts in design, construction and of course fabric.

2 pleated patch/flap pockets.

Re-enforced elbows.

Curved hem with gusseted side seams for added strength.

Single and double needle, lock and chainstitch construction.

Flat felled seams.

Bar tacks at all points of strain.

Vintage 4 hole grey Urea buttons.

Made in Canada.
